The map of Perplex City was a truly mammoth effort that consumed thousands of hours around the world. I spent a lot of time studying other city maps and reading about city planning before drawing up the road map, and then passed these onto our map designer, Russell Tate, based in Sydney. We swapped a lot of emails and sketches of buildings after that, and I'll always remember Russell saying, 'You know, there aren't enough parks in Perplex City. You should really add some more'.
Coming up with several hundred road and building names is not an easy task, especially in addition to creating a history for the city which will have to last for the entire game.
When we first came up with the idea for the map, I thought, how hard can it be? Months later, I realised the awful truth... But putting such a beautiful and detailed map on the back of the cards really reinforced to people that this was a real city we had created here.Next Previous
